After a long late night getting through the naughty and attractive list, Santa decided to catch a certain waves in Mount Maunganui in modern times.

It has been a tradition primary Christmas for the last eight years: awake, put on the unmistakable red and white parka and hat, and hit outdoor.

Mount Maunganui’s Rob Warner said getting in the water was obviously a great way to start the day.

It also got him a lot of “Merry Christmas, Santa” greetings from the little ones as well as thumbs up from other beach-goers.

Warner said the suit is not necessarily designed to be surfed when but the coat and hat just weren’t difficult if the waves were “nice and friendly” like they were today.

He said having been joined by a few of his insignifiant and the group would dress up not to mention head down to the beach in a taking bus and catch a a few.

Warner planned to get rid of the day the way he started, with a search. However , it the Santa measure up to may still be drying out by then.
