The holidays comes early for Cook Strait kayaker swept out to sea

A series of unfortunate circumstances culminated in a Cook Strait passenger ferry having to stop mid-journey to assist problem dramatic rescue.

Humanity was rescued today by the Law enforcement agency Maritime Unit on board the Lady At the IV after being swept to sea in a kayak by force of the wind and a strong current.

The kayaker launched at Red wines Rocks in Wellington with designs to fish close to shore, arm of the law said.

However , this man’s kayak capsized a few hundred metre distances offshore.

The kayaker was then swept further to sea by strong local currents before they managed to get back onto the kayak.

Police alleged the man tried to paddle back to banks but the 25-knot offshore wind prevented them making any headway.

From one unlucky circumstance go to another – he then capsized again & lost his handheld VHF.

He then managed to deploy most of the anchor to stop them being hidden further out to sea and get back onto the upturned boat.

His cellphone offers protected by a waterproof bag, even though he were unable to call for advise as there was no coverage atmosphere.

To top this kind of off, his life jacket maintained deflated.
