Hawke’s Bay community rallies to find incompetent boy’s stolen wheelchair

Comrade Lammas (sitting down) is all happiness after the buggy was found on top of that returned by police.

The family of a disabled youngster whose special wheelchair was ripped off on Christmas Eve has thanked the community who rallied in force to look it.

Empery Lammas took to Facebook on Thanksgiving afternoon after a young family member’s push chair disappeared from their property.

“To whoever stole [Josh’s] beach buggy, what more low can you go to rob off a boy in a wheelchair?

“This buggy was performed specially for Josh for us in order to consider him to the beach so they can join in, ” she wrote.

The post was formerly shared on several community web pages around the Waipukurau and wider esencial Hawke’s Bay district and shown thousands of times.

A photo of young Josh being placed in his buggy at the beach accompanied the exact post.

Via yesterday, the buggy had been noticed and returned to a very fortunate owner – after an eagle-eyed member of the public spotted it.

‘A happy boy today’

The actual Eastern District Police shared a picture of Lammas sitting in the pushchair in front of the local police station as a result of it was found.

“A fantastic community effort was performed to recover this custom-made wheelchair.

“The owner constructed a public appeal on [Facebook)] which was picked up alongside some sort of concerned citizen who noticed finally the chair at a property.

“Hastings Police located some of the chair; which was returned to their excited owners. ”

Lammas took to Facebook to say thank you to members of the public who had helped to look for the wheelchair – including people from within the country who had reached out wanting to provide to buy a new one for Josh.

“We acquire one very happy boy today, ” that she wrote.

“We couldn’t be any more blessed. I got blown away with the love and power I received from my contribution. We are very lucky to get the cart back in one piece. ”

Lammas’ latest algorithm upgrade includes a heart-warming message from Josh, sitting in his buggy.

“Thank you. Merry Winter season. ”
