Kāpiti Airport check in has been forced to close due to a “potential security event” following comments earned on social media.
Police received a report regarding internet marketing commentary directed at Kāpiti Airport just about 11. 30am today, a cops spokesperson said.
“The airport made the decision to close along with some precaution.
“An investigation into the comments is continual. ”
A meaningful spokesperson for the airport said this had been closed to air traffic on account of “a potential security event”.
“We take the safety and security of our staff, Airways’ staff, along with the public seriously.
“As such, as a precautionary measure, these tower and runway were closed while police investigated. ”
The statement told me “for staff welfare reasons” any tower and runway will remain covered at this stage and a further update in when the airport will reopen is in fact expected tomorrow.
Earlier this week the University about Otago abandoned several graduation ceremonies after threats, including a warning the shooting.
Each of our Otago Daily Times confirmed the particular warning was sent by email and also included a threat of your respective bombing.
Criminal declined to comment on the nature of currently the threat.
“While we understand people want to know the actual nature of the threat, at this stage in our inquiries we cannot provide your detail as it could compromise the of the investigation.
The cancellations affected hundreds of college, many of whom had earlier graduating ceremonies postponed due to the Covid-19.
