A head-on phénomène north of Auckland has left 6-8 people injured and closed State level Highway 1 for several hours.
Two people have considerable injuries and four moderate injuries originating from a crash. One person is being airlifted regarding hospital.
Criminal arrest spokesman Jarred Williamson said the entire crash was between two motors on SH1, south of Wellsford.
It was said just before 4pm.
A section of SH1 was screwed up while emergency services attended finally, the scene.
By 7. 45pm the road had re-opened.
The closure was the cause of major travel delays. One person shown it took them three hours to journey to Mangawhai from Auckland – almost double the normal travel time.
Diversions had been on the spot for north and southbound business.
Police anticipatory advised the highway was “likely to remain closed for some time” despite they undertook a scene test.
“Police inform motorists to expect travel delays tonight and we appreciate their cooperation as you are emergency services complete their just work at the scene, ” Williamson cited.
The Police Genuine Crash Unit had been notified and as well would be examining the scene, the guy said.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman considered that one of the injured people needed to be dietary fat intake free from one of the wrecked vehicles.
The crash developed 150 metres south of Wayby Valley Rd.
