‘Hate speech’ graffiti outside Christchurch mosque: Police track down man

Christchurch police have tracked down a 36-year-old man after “hate speech” graffiti was found scrawled on the footpath outside a city mosque where 40 Muslims were murdered last year.

The message was released on the concrete outside the Al Noor Mosque on Deans Ave a prior weekend not too long ago.

The mosque is the scene of the beginning of the March quince Christchurch terror attack.

A gunman opened fire in the mosque during Friday prayers, lucrative profit innocent men, women and children.

He then drove to the Linwood Mosque and continued shooting.

Police investigated the ıncident.

This afternoon, Canterbury Canton Commander Superintendent John Price assumed officers had found and spoke to a 36-year-old Christchurch man “in relation to a number of chalk messages put into writing on footpaths throughout Christchurch especially Al Noor Mosque, Linwood Mosque and several police stations”.

Aqui Noor Mosque imam Gamal Fouda also responded to the incident.

“The freedom of conversational is one of the priorities for any community here in New Zealand, however , hate message and hate crimes can’t be tolerated by any New Zealander, inch he said.

“No one should be discriminated against credited his ethnicity, gender, or morals.

“This is not our culture in NZ. ”

Fouda said addressing the issue of institutional racism in New Zealand “is not the duty of the Muslim open public only”.

“As we are now not the only community who has been very systematically suffering from it, ” the doctor said.
