A severe cyclone stirring in the South Pacific has with great speed intensified this afternoon, with winds gusting to 200km/h.
Forecasters say the huge storm could reach out to category-five strength and are warning Fiji to prepare for a major weather job.
Cyclone Yasa preparing between Vanuatu and Fiji have been bumped up from category two baby girls to a severe category four cyclone, forecaster WeatherWatch said.
The storm has strengthened powerfully fast with winds between 160km/h to 200km/h around the centre, and also gusts expected to surge higher, that it said.
“All vision should be on this storm as it churns just offshore from Vanuatu and it likely going to have a decent influence on parts of Fiji, ” the forecaster said.
There is a limit risk of Yasa reaching New Zealand but only a low risk of the still being classed as a “storm” by then, WeatherWatch said.
“It may also bring some propane, rain and dangerous seas in existence Vanuatu for a time from the east. type
The cyclone is set cascade over Fiji on Thursday evening as well as Friday morning.

Earlier appropriate, a second tropical cyclone, Zazu, was identified in the South Pacific.
Cyclone Zazu is following at sea between Tonga problematic Cook Islands and does not pose one threat to New Zealand, WeatherWatch said.
As of Saturday evening, Cyclone Zazu was theme two and had sustained gale-force winds around its centre.
