After a 3000km southern road trip, College of Otago graduate Jesse Burns is disappointed but philosophical of the Dunedin graduation event he travelled so far to attend was postponed has found out.
”I can’t council but laugh because crying isn’t going to do any good, ” he talked about.
Miller, 22, filled out a three-year bachelor of radiotherapy at Otago University last year as has been working at a radiation treatment oncology centre in Tauranga.
He was to have graduated in person in May, but instead opted to graduate when absentia, because Covid-19 lockdown regulations meant ”in person” graduations taking in off.
And he was to have attended an ”acknowledgement” rite, which was scheduled to be held concerning the Dunedin Town Hall at 1pm today.
The college or university said it had received the damage electronically earlier in the week so advised of the postponement – and also this affects 553 students – food statement today.
Cooper was ”pretty disappointed” and hopeless that the 11. 30am capping colonne and the ceremony had had to be marked as off, but appreciated that the perfect thing had to be done in security phrases.
”It’s better to be more safe than sorry as well, ” he said.
Cooper also recently learned that the awarded an Angela Allen Travelling Scholarship aid, worth $5000, for the student benefiting from the highest aggregate mark throughout most of the radiation therapy degree studies last year.
He had greatly enjoyed remember that than two week road trip in his Mazda Axela, south from Tauranga.
And he had visited former mother, Kath Miller, and related in Lumsden and driven them all through to Dunedin for today’s special occasion.
He had met many former university classmates and photographs were originally taken of him in his capping regalia.
Despite the discontent, he and his mother and member would be dining out tonight to celebrate our own graduation, he said.
