Covid 19 coronavirus: Cook Islands ‘can’t understand’ why travel bubble has not happened

People in the Grill Islands do not understand why a working day bubble has still not long finalised with New Zealand, ın spite of being completely free of Covid-19.

But some in the community remain positive that it will happen within the next few weeks – around the globe in time for Christmas.

Cook Islands private sector taskforce chairperson Fletcher Melvin told Newstalk ZB’s Mike Hosking that he should still be “really hopeful” of that happening prior to when the holidays.

Officials in the Cooks seem to have been pushing for a travel bubble and New Zealand over several months, from inside the hope of pumping money back hereabouts.

“And our beds and borders are closed to the outside business and that the only border we would have a look at establish (is) between us combined with New Zealand.

“Why is it that people coming from the Cook Hawaiian islands going back to New Zealand continue to be having to quarantine – it just shouldn’t make sense and it still won’t understand next week either. ”

Travel bubble with the Cooks still a no-go
