Dramatic video footage of a crash scene in Glendowie shows a bus hanging precariously off a road after breaking through a pōhutukawa tree.
The bus crashed on Riddell Rd and came within metre distances of hitting a house, said the home and property occupant, who did not want to be best known as.
The Glendowie old described the sound of the crash that do “just kept going”.

He says it’s a slippery corner and he had seen an accident there ahead.
He first thinking a vehicle had driven into not in use cars.
When he set up his front door and saw one of the bus sitting about six metres from his house, he entered “operation mode”.
“First thing I saw were a bit of wire and it was about making sure they wasn’t electric. I could see that they were fiber. There still is petrol dripping from the bottom of it, ” he announced.
“I knocked along at the window and made sure the driver had become okay. He was in a lot of great shock, quite upset, ” he proclaimed.

“The on the market passenger was an elderly cavalier who had a gash on his face. Probably worth about four or five stitches. ”
NZ Herald business reporter and witness Linda Phare said the bus golf club was in shock after careering off the road in Glendowie.
“The pōhutukawa was demolished, ” taylor said.
“The facade windscreen [of the bus] has been smashed. ”
My bus drove through fibre shapes and there was “quite a bit of oil” on the road.

Phare said the driver could be taken to hospital and a single aged passenger sitting in the back of the bus sustained a cut.
Three St John vehicles joined the scene in Glendowie and also transported the two patients to emergency room in moderate condition.
A police spokesperson said should they have called to the scene near the Glover Rd intersection at 6. 55pm where the passenger was being treated to get minor injuries.
Fire place and Emergency New Zealand always attended the scene.
