Wizz Air launches Europe’s first unlimited flight subscription program

Wizz Air

Wizz Air, Europe’s seventh-largest airline, has unveiled a groundbreaking all-you-can-fly subscription program for its entire network, marking a first in the European aviation sector.

In collaboration with Caravelo, a travel-tech subscription specialist, Wizz Air introduced this innovative service allowing subscribers to fly unlimited times across the airline’s extensive network. For an annual fee of 499 euros, set to increase to 599 euros this Friday, subscribers can book an unlimited number of flights, provided they do so within 72 hours of departure.

This latest development expands on a successful initial partnership between Wizz Air and Caravelo, which launched Europe’s first subscription-based flight service last year. That program offered customers in Italy domestic flights and international flights from Poland, allowing for either one one-way or one roundtrip flight per month for a fixed monthly fee.

Silvia Mosquera, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air, commented on the expansion, stating, “Our collaboration with Caravelo has been instrumental in bringing this innovative subscription service to our customer base. The positive feedback from the initial deployments of our multi-pass product has encouraged us to expand our subscription offer further, proving the market’s readiness for flexible travel solutions.”

Barcelona-based Caravelo, which secured a 3.5 million euros investment last September, has experience crafting subscription services for other major airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Volaris in Mexico, and Flysafair in South Africa.

Caravelo’s CEO, Iñaki Uriz, expressed pride in the extended partnership with Wizz Air, remarking, “The expansion of our subscription service is a testament to our combined commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the travel industry. This marks a significant milestone for Caravelo and a major step forward in redefining air travel.”

However, there are several caveats to the unlimited-flight pass:

  • Wizz notes there’s a flat fee of 9.99 euros ($11) to be paid separately for each flight segment.
  • Passengers would also have to pay extra for any luggage beyond the basic allowance of a personal item.
  • Plus, tickets are only available within 72 hours of the flight and are subject to availability.
