Winged Boots, a personalised luxury travel concierge company based in Essex, announces its partnership with the Brentwood School Foundation to launch the “1622 Corporate Partnership”.
The new initiative enables local businesses to directly fund a full bursary for high-achieving students, providing them with the opportunity to transform their life through education.
Part of the Foundation’s esteemed 1622 Club, the new Corporate Partnership will see Winged Boots offer a full bursary to a student in the forthcoming academic year, as well as allowing other local businesses in the Brentwood School community to directly support the provision of student scholarships.
As the Foundation’s first 1622 Corporate Sponsor under the new partnership, the inaugural bursary has been awarded to a student from Marshalls Park Academy in Romford, Essex, who will enroll at Brentwood School in September.
Winged Boots’ Co-Founders, Daniel and David Ox, were former recipients of a similar transformational bursary that allowed them to obtain a Brentwood School education, an opportunity that would have otherwise been out of reach. Now, as well as sending their own children to the school, the brothers are using their success to pay forward the support they once received themselves.
David Ox, Co-Founder and Managing Directorat Winged Boots, said: “Attending Brentwood School changed mine and my brother’s lives for the better. It instilled in me the confidence and self-belief that allowed me to build my entrepreneurial career and ultimately start Winged Boots.
“Coming from a single-parent household, I wouldn’t have been able to attend Brentwood School without the support of a bursary. Now, being able to pave the way for others who are starting out in a similar position is something that has immense personal significance to me.
“It’ s an honour and privilege to give back to the school that shaped me into the man I am today, and I look forward to other local businesses joining the 1622 Corporate Partnership in the near future.”
The Foundation’s 1622 Club, named after the year the Brentwood School statues were signed – declaring that pupils should be instructed in Virtue, Learning and Manners – aims to transform young lives by providing access to a Brentwood School education based solely on individual merit, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Samuel Mason, Director of Development at Brentwood School, said: “Bursaries are transformative in so many ways. Not only do they broaden horizons for the recipients, as seen in David and Daniel’ s case, but they also facilitate a socially diverse school environment which has undeniable wider benefits for all pupils.
“ We’ re extremely grateful to Winged Boots for kickstarting the 1622 Corporate Partnership. At Brentwood School, we’ re proud that 10% of our senior pupils have been awarded bursaries, and we look forward to our partnership equipping even more students with the skills and experience they need to thrive. David and Daniel’ s success story demonstrates the incredible value bursaries can have, and we’ re excited at the prospect of other local businesses joining the scheme too.”
The news comes following Winged Boots’ – part of Ocean Holidays – recent announcement that the travel group had surpassed its £100k fundraising target for West Essex children’s hospice, Haven House, following a series of fundraising events.
Winged Boots offers a personalised luxury travel concierge service for leisure and corporate travel – spanning flights, accommodation, yacht charter, private jet charter, as well as a concierge service for restaurant reservations, bespoke gifting and one-of-a-kind experiences.
