Feus threatened by large scrub flame in Christchurch’s Redcliffs

Residents have been evacuated if you are an uncontrolled fire in Christchurch’s Redcliffs creeps closer toward properties.

Fire services were supplied with multiple calls reporting all blaze on Balmoral Hill, not too distant from Glentrae Rd, at about 1 . 40pm on Monday.

Terminate and Emergency NZ said the blaze is stretching 50m by 100m and a number of homes usually are under threat.

A helicopter is en-route from Christchurch Airport terminal.

NZME reporter George Heard said the fire is getting close to homes.

That he said it is burning into a lot of scrub and pine trees & fire crews are protecting amount houses the fire is moving for.

Heard said there are actually about five houses in the gunning line, and the nearest one is closet meters away from the flames.

He said firefighters can be seen with the scaffolding of a construction site, and various other firefighters are on the decks of most other properties to protect them.
