Three upper floors of Wellington Regional Hospital’s main tower inhibit are significantly damaged by liquids after a fire broke out on the particular level overnight.
Criticism and Emergency NZ assistant element commander Michael Dombroski said key call out was triggered to reply to an early morning fire on the top terrain of the city’s main hospital.

The fire, which was located in the top floor underneath the helipad, sparked a fourth reveille, with 11 fire crews heading to the central Wellington hospital.
Dombroski said the fire was indeed contained to the room by the internal sprinkler system and had been partly extinguished by the time first crews delivered.

Dombroski spoken it was a large response to the fire situation that may occur which was mostly precautionary due to the high-rise nature of the fire.
He said it was a labour-intensive, resource-intensive operation to get one hosing line working to fight the bad fire.

Fire crews remained at the hospital for four hrs.
“Most of our the time has been the time hath been taken up in the recovery phase supporting with salvage and preventing continue to flood damage, ” said Dombroski.
“There’s a significant length of water damage which decreased as you went down. It even went down to position one where there was a puddle. Beyond eight, seven, six it’s exceedingly significant where damage has been sustained. ”
Fire long lasting would be returning to the hospital today that would probe the cause of the blaze.
