Undersized pā ua seized by MPI officers and police in Mahia

A lot more 150 undersized pāua have been sent back to the sea in northern Hawke’s Bay after a joint operation while using Ministry for Primary Industries because police.

Previous weekend, fishery officers and law enforcement department checked the haul of a few anglers and found a total of 156 small pāua in Mahia.

The pāua were went back to the sea, while the vehicle and equipment of the alleged offenders, who will face prosecution, have been seized.

MPI director acquiescence Gary Orr said the “greed and lack of consideration for the marine ecosystem” from those caught frequently occurs.

“Protecting some of our precious marine resources is not just the responsibility of Fishery Officers, ” liked said.

“Those resources belong to New Zealand all of us all have a responsibility to act considering that guardians of those resources for future relatives. ”
