Papakura scrap metal fire: Fire deck hands now gone, but cause keep unknown

Fire crews have left the enviroment of a large scrap metal blaze as South Auckland – just under a day after it started.

One crew remained at the Hunua Rd site, in the suburb over Papakura, overnight.

“Not everyone got the text. In case if [the air] had been poisonous, I would’ve had breathing problems.

“I was sitting on my deck when my neighbour wandered past and told me. The windows [were] open when it’s hot. ”
