Five people have practised the art of taken into custody after a man was seen with a gun operating in Ōtara this afternoon.
Criminal received multiple reports about a dog in possession of a firearm in the Otara Mall area about 2 . 25pm, a spokeswoman said.
The man left in a vehicle, that may police found at nearby Fisher Cres, police said.
“Five people were taken into custody as well as , an air rifle was reinstituted. ”
It comes after a spate of shootings on the inside Auckland in November.
On November 20, Counties Manukau police were called three times and Ōtara after a gun was let go and once when a firearm was revealed.
The next day, police used to be called to Ōtara twice due to firearms.
It generated an increased armed police presence from the suburb over that weekend.
At the time, a police champion said that although nobody was harmed, “police recognise this type of incident is of concern to our community and we spend these reports very seriously however are investigating”.
