Covid 19 coronavirus: Father takes some sort of long way home for Christmas

One mother has gone to some extreme lengths to regain it home for Christmas and reunite together with his 7-year-old son, Andre, after is nearly a year apart.

With borders closing and in addition flights becoming scarce, Dmitry Pelevin decided to sail solo, 7000 nm from the Caribbean to Auckland.

Pelevin cleared tradition in Opua, where he passed that Covid-19 test, and because he was in sea for more than two weeks he was of course entry into the country without having to be deposited managed isolation.

Just after he reached terra autógrafo he told RNZ Checkpoint this journey had not been all plain vollyball but his son was thrilled to see him.

“He was very excited… the past leg was quite tough, so then i couldn’t get inside to the spiaggia because the wind was very strong and so… it was just struggle to arrive after only.

“Some individuals were waiting here for me – these son and friends. ”

After persevering but also docking in the harbour, the family are now getting excited about a Kiwi Christmas together.

“Now it’s nearly fine. I’m with my tenor and we are now planning what we performing for Christmas.

“Andre will stay with me on the boat at some point and I’ll talk to him towards the boat, about the journey and beginning from tomorrow we… probably will go somewhere and go to the beach. ”
