OPINION:
If Trevor Mallard was initially hoping that appearing before the identify committee today was going to make belongings better for himself, he misjudged that horribly.
Fresh just made things a whole lot worse.
It turns out $330, 000 is not involving of the Mallard clean-up bill many people taxpayers are paying. We are in the gun for more.

He’s taken a claim : perhaps a personal grievance for the issues under which his employment came to an end
Now already currently the taxpayer legal bill for dealing with THAT EXPERTS CLAIM claim is $37, 500. When i don’t know if that’s the end of the valid costs there. So add that in direction of $330, 000.
Which there could be a payout as well. Additionally , the chances of that are high given that it is currently in the public domain that Mallard employs admitted to defaming the man. Some man’s original claim was about $450, 000, so this bill is possibly high.

Anymore, add that to the $330, 000.
But what makes this even less profitable than vacancies, if that’s even possible, is that Mallard did not admit there was more money owing when he was asked about it.
In my opinion, he misled the populace with his answer.
Having been asked by Chris Bishop when there was “any further money to generally be paid”, and Mallard answered “there is no further money to be paid”.
But then, just over a sec later, the chief executive of Parliamentary Services, Rafael Gonzalez-Montero, admits “there is still a claim against the Parliamentary Service”.
Michael Woodhouse raises to: “Is the committee now headsets that $330, 000 is not usually the end of the matter in terms of impose to the taxpayer? ”
Gonzalez-Montero answers, “Yes. ”
So , not only has the Wedding speaker used our money to tidy up his mistakes, but he is not been totally transparent about exactly how much money it’s costing us.
Mallard tried his hardest today to frame this as just a mistake, one that he could be very sorry for and trying to make right, and tried to convince the public that he needs to relax in the job to finish his project of making Parliament a safer place to work out.
Well, he will need then lead by example and as well as leave the building, because he is reliably exhibiting the exact kind of behaviour he claims to want to clear out.
We can now add to his description of transgressions: attempting to mislead the public.
He will continue to be problem when Labour, because now that the other and taxpayers know there is really our money to be spent, we will be asking about it next year.
So , as much as he’s tried to slay off this story before Christmas season, it now almost certainly will push into the next year unless he will the dignified thing and leaves the process.
