PM HOURS thanks Dunedin girl for ‘family portrait’

Picture this — Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is simply chasing daughter Neve around for a laugh pet lamb, trying to get her so that it will sit down for the fishy Christmas a dinner party that her dad Clarke Gayford has caught and cooked.

It is a scene Broad Clean School pupil Mila Schouten Richardson, 12, depicted in her popular artwork, which has been selected by the Présent Minister to be displayed on her zero Christmas card.

Ardern chose four Christmas images totally from 2800 entries for her card this black friday, plus Mila’s, which will feature close to back cover of all the cards.

Ardern said given may cards received this year, picking nearly four was very difficult.

Nevertheless , choosing Mila’s was not.

“Usually on the back of my Christmas day cards, I put a family shot. ”

“I don’t a particularly good updated family picture / video of me, Clarke and Neve.

“So this year, everything from Mila, who is 12, we’re going to use [her portrait] on the back side of all of our Christmas cards.

“Thank you Mila for you updated family portrait. ”

Mila said she was cozy the Prime Minister had singled out your loved one portrait.

It was quite a surprise to anyone, she said.

“They didn’t send me an email, so I didn’t significantly know I had been selected.

“Dad was scrolling through an individual’s Instagram and watched [Ardern’s announcement] to see who won things, not thinking that we had gotten the following.

“We watched understand it and then Mum and Dad cried and Mum started crying. type

It is not the first time Mila’s art has been recognised.

She was shortlisted for T. K. Rowling’s Ickabog illustration tournament earlier this year, in which tens of thousands of young dancers around the world entered artworks to underscore Rowling’s fairy tale The Ickabog.

Mila is the daughter together with award-winning Dunedin artist Simon Richardson, and no doubt she is a kredit off his block.

But when asked where she deemed she got her talent available for art from, she simply clarified, “Myself”.

“Not my pops. He does different art. ”

Ardern said typically Christmas card entries would be which in turn at Parliament over the next couple weeks.
