Waikato bar slammed after listing courtesy driver job at just $12 1 hour

A Waikato bar has took off a job listing after receiving repercussion for offering just $12 at least an hour for the successful applicant.

Elsie’s Restaurant and Bar at Tuakau was looking for a driver the company’s courtesy van, which involves collecting and dropping off customers.

The role required my worker to work on Friday as well as Saturday nights, from 5pm except close.

One unhappy applicant posted images of their discussion with the establishment, which made it crystal-clear they were offering just $12 on a daily basis.

In the message, Elsie’s wrote: “could finish as early as three. 30pm or as late for 1am depending on patrons. The rate can $12 an hour. Would you still be seeking to the job? ”

In another guide, the applicant said: I’m terribly sick of people and businesses seeking to take advantage of others. Elsie’s Restaurant… in order to ashamed of yourselves. ”

The current minimum wage is $18. 90.

Elsie’s a specialist asked applicants their home town, your age, availability, how long they’ve had a all license and whether they’ve been in different car crashes.

The owner of Elsie’s told Newshub they have never charged employees less than minimum wage.

The owner said the om was “poorly worded” and it had been “wrong”.
