One person has passed on after a three-car crash involving a real horse float just outside Rangiora in North Canterbury this afternoon.

Multiple St John, fireplace and police vehicles rushed to go to the smash at the intersection of Plaskett and Oxford roads about several. 55pm.

A speaker for St John said the ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and so two managers attended.

One person was rushed to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries, though it is true two others were also hospitalised with the moderate injuries.

Arrest later confirmed that one person possessed passed away.

One of the vessels had been towing a horse drift, said a spokesman for Function and Emergency New Zealand, in which sent three crews from the border Rangiora station.

Any horse has been removed.

Wide cordons and diversions were put around the crash site but have now been lifted.

The 100km/h stretch of way has experienced several bad dives in recent years.
