Impressive evening rescue underway after boaties stranded on island

A epic evening rescue is underway lapland of Auckland, where two boaties have run into trouble.

It is understood the pair’s boat was damaged and they achieved it to an island off Mangawhai Leaders.

An Decoration helicopter is keeping an eye on the two boaties, who are on Taranga Island, however they await rescue by Court arrest boat crew, a Police a spokesperson said.

By 10pm tonight, the duo also hadn’t been rescued.

The coastguard also integrated a rescue vessel out of Marsden Cove in Whangārei.

It is understood the two boaties are not injured.

Police were called to the incident at about 7. 20pm.
