Apprehensive late night fire in Mt Albert Grammar School hostel, police investigating

A very overnight fire at an Auckland a second set of school hostel where pupils have been sleeping is being treated as arson.

Students and as well as staff at Mt Albert School were forced to evacuate from School Your own house, on the school grounds, after the fire broke out after midnight.

Fire and Dire northern shift manager Daniel Nicholson said four fire engines ran to the central Auckland school someplace they discovered a fire in a dormitory near the back of the boarding stop.

Everyone lying down in the dormitories had been safely removed by the time fire crews arrived, the dog said.

Nicholson said although the fire wasn’t generous and quickly extinguished it was truly treated as suspicious.

Police had been notified and fire investigators would return today to examine the cause.
