Adult man arrested after shots fired from police in Northland

A 24-year-old man should be arrested after an incident back in Whangārei this morning, where shots they were fired at police.

Northland District Commander superintendent Tony Hill said the man was most arrested at an address in Whangārei and has been taken into legal care.

“This keiner is due to appear in the Whangārei Region Court tomorrow and will face many of charges, which will include firearms violations, in relation to this incident. ”

Police hope this kind of arrest brings some reassurance within Whangārei community, he said.

The superintendent cited police are not looking for anyone else on the matter.

“Temporary carriage of firearms is no longer in position for police in the Whangārei sector, ” Hill said.
